New Year's Eve (December 31)

Your Animal Crossing town is having a New Year's Eve party! Go check out the countdown clock (by the town hall) and celebrate when the year becomes 2009!

Tortimer is giving away party poppers.  You can get as many as you want--just keep talking to him.  He won't give away any during the last five minutes or after the countdown is over.

During the last ten minutes, a few of your town's animals will show up to watch.

When the countdown ends, the clock will say "Happy New Year" and the fireworks will begin.  The fireworks will last for several hours.  Look up in the sky to enjoy them, take a picture or two, and invite a friend over!  The animals who are outside will watch, too, and clap!

New Year's Day (January 1)

Talk to Tortimer and he will give you this year's New Year's Shirt. New Year's Shirt 2009 has a picture of a cow on it. There are different New Year's Shirts programmed into the game for the years 2000 through 2035! You could time-travel (change your clock time) to get them, but they really aren't that special. Besides, when you come back to the present, you will have a zillion weeds!
